Two policewomen are in hot water for posting on social media their
photo with actor Mark Anthony Fernandez after he was arrested for
alleged possession of a kilo of marijuana in Angeles City on Monday
night.
Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa ordered the policewomen, who have yet to be identified, to explain their actions to the PNP internal affairs service.
According to Dela Rosa, the police might be accused of double standard.
He also expressed concern that police officers would take selfies or photos with showbiz personalities instead of focusing on their duty to enforce the law.
Dela Rosa, however, admitted that the policewomen could have simply been star-struck with Fernandez.
According to Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos, PNP spokesman, he did not see anything wrong with the photo, but echoed Dela Rosa’s reminder to police not to give special treatment to celebrities.
Fernandez, 37, is being held at the Angeles City police station.
