The six month pregnant woman who was among the injured in the Sept. 2 bombing died late Monday, making her the 15th fatality in the attack.
Officials said that 21-year-old Vicenta Depalubos Asperin succumbed to the injuries she suffered during the bomb attack on the Roxas night market where about 70 others were injured.
Asperin died of heart failure and brain damage while confined at the Metro Davao Medical and Research Center (MDMRC) after 11 days in coma.
Her unborn child also didn't survive.
Authorities said that this should be counted as one victim since the baby remained inside the mother's womb.
Asperin was the massage therapist of another victim, Daniel Larrida, 12, who was among those who died at the bomb site.
Her husband, John Lord, was in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley province when the attack occurred. The two were married only in March and were expecting their first child.
Asperin was near where the explosion occurred. A splinter entered through her nose and went straight to her brain.
According to Gregorio Depalubos, Asperin's brother, his sister did not have any clue that a bomb had exploded. She even asked what has happened to her then fell into a coma.
She was declared brain dead by her attending physician a few minutes before her last breath.
