Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, a nominee for the Democratic party for the 2016 Presidential election in the United States is in favor of Obama calling off the meeting with President Duterte.
"With respect to the Philippines, President Obama made exactly the right choice," said Clinton as she was flying to Florida to campaign. "When you meet with anyone, ally or adversary, you come in with a list of issues that are important to be raised. You determine what they are."
On Monday, before Rodrigo Duterte left for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit he directed explicit words to Obama that has resulted the Washington to call of the bilateral meeting of the two powerful nations.
"And since then there's been an apology and an expression of regret, which is appropriate," Clinton added. "We have a lot of ties between the United States and the Philippines. And I think it's very important that we have a relationship, but there has to be a certain level of respect that is expected on both sides."
Meanwhile, Clinton's Republican rival, Donald Trump posted on his official twitter account regarding Duterte mouthing the US President and China's treatment towards Obama.
The cancellation of meeting has been mutually agreed by both presidents, but it will happen eventually. There is no exact date yet but they soon announce when it will be.
