Alcala Mother and Daughter Fall in Quezon Shabu Bust

Former Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala's sister-in-law and niece were both arrested by the police after they yielded more than 100 grams of shabu in a drug bust in Tayabas City Sunday night.

According to Quezon City Police Chief Sr. Supt. Antonio Yarra, agents of the provincial anti-drugs unit arrested Maria Fe Abutin Alcala and daughter Toni Anne at a house in Leveriza Subdivision, Barangay Isabang.

Yarra said Toni Anne is on the local police's list of drug personalities, but her sexagenarian mother is not. It appears that the mother and daughter are both trafficking in drugs after some sachets of shabu were also confiscated from the mother.

Found in the Alcalas' possession were 24 sachets of shabu, with a street value of P212,000.

Maria Fe is the wife of Cirilo Alcala who surrendered last month along with his son Sajid to the police after having his name included in the list of drug personalities in Quezon province.

Cirilo, whose nickname is Athel, is in fact being tagged by the authorities as a drug kingpin in Quezon.

Cirilo has another brother, Congressman Kulit Alcala.

The arrest of the Alcala mother and daughter is a major even in the massive sweep of known drug dealers and users under Oplan Tokhang.
