The Philippine National Police (PNP) has designated nearly 1,000 gasoline stations throughout the country as emergency alert hubs wherein the public, especially motorists, would be able to report a crime whether as a victim or a witness to one.
Director-General Ronald dela Rosa, PNP chief, said the partnership with as many private companies and groups is indeed a big boost in the anti-criminality campaign, especially those related to illegal drugs.
“Let me assure you that the war against illegal drugs and crime remain relentless and with your help, we will score more victories along the way,” said Dela Rosa at yesterday’s launching of “Itaga MO Sa Bato Mobile App” and the PNP’s partnership with Pilipinas Shell.
Under the agreement, 960 gasoline stations of Pilipinas Shell will be installed with the mobile app where the public, especially motorists could drop by and report a crime.
The gasoline stations will provide the PNP with a wider community network to help alert them in the event of a crime, or during emergencies such as fire or accidents.
At the launch, the PNP and APSDI provided a demonstration of how the app works to members of the media.
During an emergency, motorists can go to the nearest Shell station to report their incident. Using the quick alert app, staff from the station can report the emergency directly to PNP’s command center at the press of a button, enabling the command center to refer the incident to the nearest police station for quick response.
