The
Philippine Navy rescued at least 75 people, including children and crew members
aboard an ill-fated seacraft which drifted more than a day off Sulu Wednesday,
according to official.
The Naval
Task Group (NTG) launched the rescue mission following reports from the
Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) station of Sulu about a distress call from M/L
Nadzramar near Minis Island off Sulu province.

Tan Jr., spokesman of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), said the
ill-fated motorlaunch left Pangutaran Island, Sulu Tuesday en route to
Zamboanga city with 63 passengers and 12 crew members.
The seacraft
experienced engine trouble and was dead on the waters for 30 hours amid rough
sea condition.
Tan said two
naval patrol boats spotted the ill-fated motorlaunch in the vicinity of Bubuan
Island, which rescued all the passengers and crew members.
Many of the
passengers, especially children, experienced nausea and were provided with
medical assistance by the rescue team.
The
ill-fated seacraft was towed and turned over to the custody of the Coast Guard
station in Jolo.
