President Duterte has appealed for public understanding on the traffic congestion expected from the construction of many infrastructure projects in the country.
“I have to remind you that there will be a lot of projects on the streets. There will also be commotion and sometimes derailment of the traffic situation,” the President said in a press conference in Davao City.
“Wala namang libre dito. There’s always a drawback,” added Duterte, who arrived from his trips to Malaysia and Thailand early Friday morning.
Duterte said the public can expect “developments” with the implementation of projects aimed at improving the country’s transportation network early next year.
The President returned to the country Friday morning after his two-day official visit to Malaysia, where businessmen expressed confidence in investment opportunities in the country.
Duterte said Malaysian businessmen expressed interest in investing in the country’s infrastructure, mass transportation development, building of regional centers, agribusiness, halal-certified products, and high-value processing facilities.
“A lot of projects are on deck so I would say that it would keep our country busy in the coming months,” he said.
The Department of Trade and the Industry (DTI) has been directed by the President to follow through and ensure the growth of trade and investment with Malaysia, the country’s 10th largest trade partner.
“My message to business leaders is clear: The Philippines is open for business and we will provide the environment that is conducive for industries to thrive,” he said.
