A fire hit a portion of the Glorietta 3 mall in Makati on Sunday night.
Officials of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire started at 7:55 p.m. and escalated to first alarm at 8:05 p.m.
Firefighters immediately arrived at the scene, with first responders setting up first aid assistance.
Mall goers tweeted photos of the incident, saying people in the mall panicked. This resulted to a mad dash outside Glorietta and connecting malls SM and Landmark.
Fire out was declared at 9:09 p.m.
According to arson investigator SFO3 Gerson Moncada, the fire started in the kitchen of a restaurant located at the third floor of Glorietta 3.
He said one of the employees saw smoke in the exhaust fan. No customers were at the restaurant when the fire started.
Initial damage was estimated at ₱20,000.
Glorietta management said no one was hurt in the incident.
