The United States Embassy has provided a copy of the video footage of the October 19 violent protest dispersal outside its premises, which was highlighted by a police vehicle ramming protesters.
Deputy Director General Benjamin Magalong, Philippine National Police (PNP) deputy chief for operations, said the video footage from a CCTV camera of the U.S. Embassy is among the ones being reviewed for investigators to come up with a clear picture of the ramming incident.
“The investigation of the CIDG (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group) is ongoing… they are now reviewing video footages that they obtained and in fact they also obtained video footage from the U.S. Embassy,” said Magalong.
Magalong said CIDG investigators have also interviewed two dozens of police personnel who were among those deployed during the protest action.
But the number is expected to increase especially that at least 60 policemen were placed under restrictive custody of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
Among them are PO3 Franklin Kho, the driver of the van that rammed the protesters, and Senior Supt. Marcelino Pedrozo, who is accused of ordering the violent dispersal.
Magalong said he expects the CIDG’s report on the incident to be done by November 4.
