Associate Justice Marvic Leonen of the Supreme Court has joined mounting objections to the reported plan in the House of Representatives to make public the alleged sex video of Sen. Leila de Lima.
In a series of posts on his Twitter account, the magistrate cited laws and statutes prohibiting recording and showing of videos of sexual acts.
He tweeted "Republic Act 9995 or Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009" with the hashtags "everywoman," "everyman" and "everyone."
The hashtag "everywoman" went viral recently, as netizens expressed concerns to the plan of the House of Representatives justice committee to play alleged sex videos of De Lima and her driver and alleged lover Ronnie Dayan in its probe on the proliferation of illegal drugs in the New Bilibid Prison.
Leonen also quoted a provision of the 1987 Constitution -- Article 2, Section 11 -- in a separate tweet.
The provision says, "The State values the dignity of every human person and guarantees full respect for human rights."
The magistrate also cited Article 3, Section 1, a key constitutional provision being cited by critics of the killings of drug suspects under the Duterte administration.
In another tweet, Leonen also quoted a famous line from the 1984 film Sister Stella L that helped inspire the historic EDSA people power revolution that toppled the last strongman Ferdinand Marcos.
Among the 15 current SC justices, only Leonen keeps a Twitter account with over 14,500 followers and where he has been actively posting.
