An Abu Sayyaf bandit was killed when he allegedly tried to grab the firearm of one of his escorts following his arrest in Tawi-Tawi on Monday.
Ustab Anji was arrested in Barangay Magsagaw in Pang-lima Sugala town at around 1 p.m. based on a warrant for kidnapping with serious illegal detention issued by a local court.
Anji, who had a P350,000 bounty on his head, was also tagged in the kidnapping of Indonesian and Malaysian fishermen recently, Maj. Filemon Tan Jr., spokesman for the Western Mindanao Command, said yesterday.
A caliber .45 pistol and a fragmentation grenade were reportedly recovered from the suspect.
