Lawyer: Jaybee Sebastian Wants to Talk to Duterte About Alleged Bilibid Drug Trade

High-profile inmate and considered top Bilibid drug lord Jaybee Sebastian is will to talk to President Duterte all about the alleged drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), his lawyer said on Wednesday.

The statement came after Sebastian was among who got injured in a stabbing incident at the national penitentiary on wednesday morning. Chinese drug lord Tony Co was killed in the riot.

Atty. Eduardo Arriba said Sebastian doesn't want to disclose the information to the public as it may cause ire to officials in the previous and current administrations and might endanger his security.

"The previous administration, kung sino man ang involved, magagalit sa kanya," Arriba said. "Sa present administration, maapektuhan ang ongoing investigation sa Congress dahil iba ang sasabihin niya. Salungat doon sa sinasabi ng present witnesses."

[Translation: Whoever are involved from the previous administration would get mad at him. For the present administration, the ongoing investigation in the Congress would be affected because he will say something different. He would contradict the testimony of the present witnesses.]

Witnesses at the House inquiry on the alleged drug trade in Bilibid claimed Sebastian collected drug money to help fund De Lima's senatorial bid.

De Lima has denied the allegations, pointing out that Sebastian was a "government asset."

Justice Secretary Vitalian Aguirre earlier said Sebastian refused to testify about the drug trade inside Bilibid and was only willing to discuss the alleged food anomaly in NBP.
