Inmate Jaybee Sebastian to Testify in House Hearing

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II confirmed Sunday night the appearance of high-profile inmate Jaybee Sebatian to testify in the House of Representative's probe into the proliferation of illegal drugs in the National Bilibid Prisons (NBP) in Muntinlupa.

In a text message to reporters, Aguirre said: "Yes, he (Sebastian) will testify in the House hearing."

The house committee on justice has subpoenaed Sebastian, the alleged bagman of Senator De Lima in the NBP, to testify in its hearing this week.

Aguirre, however, did not disclose further details on the supposed testimony of Sebastian.

"I don't know what he will say. He still does not want to cooperate with the investigation. Maybe he will just deny the statements of the other inmates," the justice chief said.

“But he said he would only speak insofar as the anomalies in food supplies in Bilibid, not on the illegal drugs trade. With a subpoena from the House, he is now compelled to appear before the inquiry,” Aguirre added.
