Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa assured celebrities who use or push illegal drugs that they will not be immediately jailed if they will surrender to authorities.

“Kung mag-surrender sila, e ito naman usapang lalaki, kahit na identified sila na user, kung mag-surrender sila, para sa akin, they don’t deserve to be jailed. Kung mag-surrender sila, bigyan natin ng tsansang magbago yung tao,” Dela Rosa told reporters after attending the hearing on the proposed 2017 budget of the Department of Interior and Local Government.
“Kahit na pusher pa nga, basta mag-surrender at umamin at gusto nang magbagong buhay, pagbibigyan natin,” he added.
Dela Rosa said this is what the PNP has been doing to those who have yielded to them.
“Tao lang tayo. I want this (anti-illegal drugs) campaign to be as humane as possible. Kaya nga umabot tayo ng 720,000 na surrenderers dahil nga sa human approach natin,” he said.
